Ms. Nevindaree Premarathne, Founder and CEO of The Makers Global, was among 31 women digital entrepreneurs selected from 12 developing countries to take part in the eTrade for Women China Study Tour 2025.


Organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in collaboration with the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), and with the support of the Government of China, the 14-day workshop focused on enhancing e-commerce and digital economy capacities of women entrepreneurs from developing countries.


Held across Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou from 15 to 28 September 2025, the program aimed to strengthen business capacities, foster connections, and promote an inclusive digital landscape through South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

At the WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Women Entrepreneur Awards 2024, Ms. Nevindaree Premarathne, Founder and CEO of The Makers Global, was recognized with the Outstanding Start-Up of 2024 award. The event celebrated exceptional women entrepreneurs across Sri Lanka and the SAARC region who are driving innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.

In a powerful collaboration, UN Women and The Makers Global have launched the MakHer programme in Sri Lanka — an initiative funded by the Republic of Korea to support young women entering high-growth industries in STEM. The programme combines mentorship, hands-on workshops, and leadership training to bridge gender gaps in tech and innovation.


Ms. Nevindaree Premarathne, CEO of The Makers Global, emphasized the initiative’s mission: “Advancing young women in STEM is about building a future where quality education, gender equality, and economic growth thrive through innovation.”
